William Case is a professor in the Department of Asian and International Studies and director of the Southeast Asia Research Center (SEARC) at City University of Hong Kong. He has held teaching or visiting research positions at the University of Malaya, National University of Malaysia, MARA University of Technology in Shah Alam, Malaysia, the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Jakarta, and the Institute of Asian Studies at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. His most recent book is Contemporary Authoritarianism in Southeast Asia.
