Bringing perpetrators of human rights abuses to account is central to the fight against impunity. Yet following political violence that erupted in Kenya in 2007 and the two decades of violent conflict between the Lord’s Resistance Army and Ugandan forces, justice has been waylaid by lack of technical capacity and political will. Freedom House is working to empower civil society to advance domestic justice and put an end to impunity, while also strengthening intra- and inter-regional networks of advocates working to advance this issue.
