The right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion and belief are some of the most fundamental of human rights, yet their protection remains a significant challenge across the globe. Through our International Religious Freedom program, Freedom House is a leading defender of the right to free practice and expression of one’s beliefs (or non-beliefs).
Freedom House monitors and analyzes the state of freedom around the globe. We implement innovative programs, trainings and advocacy efforts to support civil society activists with the tools they need to become effective catalysts for democratic change. Freedom House engages with media, legal, religious, youth, and human rights-oriented groups and communities to promote international religious freedom norms through social, cultural, and political understanding. We collaborate with some of the world’s most notable activists and organizations working to defend religious freedom.
