Please join us for the screening of a new and disturbing documentary “The Magnitsky Files: Organized Crime Inside the Russian Government.”  The film details the arrest, torture, and death of Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian lawyer who uncovered the existence of a criminal network involving senior Russian government officials.  That network had stolen hundreds of millions of dollars and had no hesitation in resorting to violence to protect its corrupt activities.

Though tragic, Magnitsky’s death is but one example of the wide-ranging corruption that pervades the government of Vladimir Putin and the human rights violations that are a regular occurrence in Russia.  This documentary underscores the importance of Congress enacting H.R. 4405, the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act, which would hold accountable individuals responsible for the death of Russian whistleblower Sergei Magnitsky, as well as other individuals who have committed gross human rights violations in Russia.
