As the wave of transitions in Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya settle into a consolidation phase, civil society groups are now more important than ever as they represent the hopes and goals of citizens in these newly emerging democracies. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Middle East citizens continue to struggle for freedom in the face of autocratic rule and independent civil society faces harsh conditions and manipulation throughout the region.

Join us as Freedom House Directors in Egypt and Tunisia share updates on the socio-political situations in their respective countries, and discuss NGO operations in the current challenging environment. Additionally, Charles Dunne, director of programs for the Middle East and North Africa will discuss how the cases of egypt and Tunisia reflect trends in the region.
