Bette Bao Lord was the seventeenth Chairman of Freedom House. She is the author of numerous books and articles and the recipient of the Eleanor Roosevelt Award. Ms. Lord is an active campaigner for political rights and civil liberties worldwide and has appeared on numerous news programs including CNN, the Newshour, Face the Nation, and others.
