Freedom House releases "Nations in Transit 2012"

Rising antidemocratic tendencies in Hungary and Ukraine have the potential to take root elsewhere in the region, according to the findings of Nations in Transit 2012. The report stressed the increasing vulnerability of the young democracies in the European Union. Freedom House experts David J. Kramer, Christopher Walker and Sylvana Kolaczkowska released the report at the Legatum Institute in London on June 6 and at the German Marshall Fund in Brussels on June 7. They also briefed Members of the European Parliament and high-level European Commission officials on the report’s findings.
