Freedom House Hosts Tunisian Journalist
On April 19, Freedom House hosted a discussion with Sofiene Chourabi, a prominent Tunisian journalist and blogger, on the ongoing democratic transition in Tunisia. Chourabi discussed recent developments as well as challenges facing Tunisians with regards to the upcoming election and the role of youth – who were crucial in the protest movement that brought down Ben Ali. Mr. Chourabi answered questions about the continuing importance of bloggers in the post-revolution period, the debate over the gender equality provision in the electoral law, and other topics.
